Snacks from Japan

Konnichiwa, friends!

I just got back from the most magical 10-day trip to Japan, and I couldn’t wait to share all the yummy snacks I brought home (and a few I definitely couldn’t wait to eat while I was there) !

My KitKat Haul!!!
My KitKat Haul!!!

Let’s talk snacks first—because Japan knows how to treat your taste buds. I packed my suitcase with goodies, but here are my absolute favorites:

1. Pokémon-Themed Shortbread Cookies

These cookies were almost too cute to eat—almost! Each one had a different Pokémon character on it. I got Pikachu, Eevee, and Jigglypuff cookies, and they were buttery, sweet, and perfect for sharing (or not sharing… wink).

2. KITKAT CRAZINESS!

Did you know Japan has the coolest KitKat flavors ever? I brought home three:

  • Matcha (Green Tea) – Earthy, sweet, and super smooth.

  • Strawberry – Fruity and fun with a pink crunch!

  • Salted Caramel and Chocolate – Sweet, salty, and extra creamy. Total game-changer!

3. Rice Balls (Onigiri)

These were perfect for quick bites on our city adventures. Some had salmon, some had seaweed, and all of them were delicious.

4. Strawberry Tanghulu

This treat was so pretty and sweet! Imagine fresh strawberries coated in a shiny sugar glaze that cracks when you bite into it—yum! It was like eating fruity glass candy, and I LOVED it.

But wait—there’s more! While I was exploring Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, I got to try some amazing food:

  • Ramen that was so flavorful it made me say “mmm” out loud every time.

  • Wagyu beef that was tender and juicy (I felt like a queen eating it!).

  • Puffy pancakes that jiggled like jelly and melted in my mouth.

  • And soooo much taro boba tea—it was my go-to drink the entire trip!

Japan was full of bright lights, kind people, and the tastiest treats ever. I’ll be dreaming about those Pokémon cookies, strawberry tanghulu, and sipping on taro tea in my imagination until I go back again.

What snack would you try first? Let me know in the comments!

Sayonara for now,
